Production

60 hl/ha. The 2021 vintage will remain historic with a frost in early April that caused the loss of 50% of the grape production. It is the strongest frost since 1991. The rest of the campaign was marked by abundant rainfall from May to September and a very strong disease pressure (mildew) which also generated a loss of harvest of 5 to 30% depending on the sector. This cold and humic climate was nevertheless beneficial to the white wines to preserve their freshness. The work done on the harvest date and in the cellar on the lees allowed us to have a beautiful vintage with fresh aromas and a good length.

Domaine Les Fumées Blanches is located in the Gascogny area, in the South-West of France. A place well known for the somptuous spirit of Armagnac. It’s in 1997, that François Lurton and his brother Jacques found this unknown terroir, the perfect place to grow and express the true character of Sauvignon Blanc. In order to obtain the best Sauvignon Blanc grapes, the soil needs to provide enough water to the vine during the growing season and also sufficient nitrogen. The ripening needs to take place slowly in order for the complexity of aromas to develop over time. During ripening it is important to have a significant difference in temperatures between day and night to provide a good balance between the increase in sugar and decrease of acidity levels at the moment of harvest.

    Good price for French wine

It’s a great wine to go with summer salad like mango avocado and seafood and it part well with most of the cheese
