Lovely ruby-red with medium depth of colour and slight brick-red hues, the text-book definition of Rioja Gran Reservas. Great aromatic intensity on the nose, less fruit-driven, but generous aromatics of lavender, ginger and saffron. A round and balanced palate, displaying silky tannins while still remaining fresh and lively. The aftertaste is long and lingering, it offers hints of toasted wood and dried fruits.

The wine has been aged for a minimum of 24 months in American and French oak casks and for a further 36 months in bottle. This hallmark ageing process results in aromas of outstanding complexity and a smooth velvety structure
Fermentation & Maceration
In Barón de Ley’s vinification cellar with capacity for 64 state-of-the-art stainless steal vats, where our winemaking team completes an average of twenty different processes adjusting the critical fermentation parameters, such as temperature, pumpovers and maceration times, to the specific character of the grapes. Every morning they taste and test all the fermenting vats so as to be able to make the right decision for each particular vat.
This wine is enjoyed alongside a classic from Rioja cuisine, milk-fed lamb chops, which we grill over dried vine shoots. We also call this our “fireplace wine”, it can be slowly enjoyed on its own, with a cheese platter or Iberian hams.

Very smooth! Recommended by Hillview branch staff. It was on dine-in promo with Father's Day platter. Very smooth, medium body and has a pleasant fruity note. Very enjoyable red wine!

Good
Aromatic intensity on the nose with notes of ripe fruit and a smoky and vanilla complexity. The palate is silky soft with hints of wild herbs, spice and toasted tones.
