"Dried lemons and white peaches with some fresh flower undertones. Medium-bodied with touches of vanilla from the barrel fermentation. It’s layered and structured for the vintage. Better in a year or two. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

Mission Estate’s Cable Station Road vineyard in the Awatere Valley possesses particular soils comprising sandy loams derived from glacial loess. They are soils that naturally give good vine health but restricted vigour due to their light texture. The summer was warm and dry, and the fruit ripened evenly with particularly intense flavours. For this reserve wine, we selected fruit from the blocks with the best-balanced vines and a very low crop load, averaging 10 tonnes per hectare
