Released in 2002, 7 Deadly was born from a Catholic school upbringing and our winemaker’s lust for hedonistically seductive wine. Seven certified sustainable vineyards were chosen for the inaugural vintage in the enviable Lodi appellation, where Zinfandel reigns supreme. The Seven Sins were related to the seven Old Vine Zinfandels blended in the wine to create 7 Deadly Zins, now America’s favorite Zinfandel*.

Complex aromas of tart cherry, raspberry and caramel are wrapped in flavors of chocolate cake vanilla, spice and smokey wood. Medium bodied with a rich, smooth texture, mild tannins and a beautiful garnet color.

Though made entirely the same way as all wines, vegan wines are wines in which during the winemaking step of "fining" that is needed to filter the wine, no animal-based products are used. These days, Michael and David Phillips represent the fifth generation of growers in Lodi, and things are changing. With 650 acres of premium wine grapes, there is plenty of room for experimentation and innovation. The vineyards are irrigated by the Mokelumne River, which carries crystal-clear water from the Sierra Nevada Mountains, depositing minerals into the rich soils upon which the grapes thrive. Though not certified organic, Michael David Winery strives to use all natural methods including integrated pest management, beneficial insects for pest control, trellising, leaf pulling and natural mined sulfur for mildew control.
