SERESIN "Leah" - Pinot Noir - Marlborough - New Zealand
Product Description
Description
A blend from all of our vineyard sites, Leah is named after Michael Seresins daughter. It exhibits bright, fragrant berry-fruit aromas, interlaced with spice and herbal notes. The wine is focused and concentrated, with a succulent fruit core, framed by fine-grained tannins and a mouth- watering acidity. An elegant and understated style with immediate appeal, but structure to last. Vintage in image may vary. Refer to wine facts for current vintage.

Critique Review
A brooding, full style that offers a dark plum and savory interpretation of Marlborough Pinot Noir. Hailing from the richer soils of the Omaka Valley rather than the free-draining valley floor, there's more depth and substance here and a fine coating of powdery tannins. Yields are pretty low (six tons/ha) and the finish is filled with damson fruit. Satisfying and sumptuous but there's no shortage of acidity keeping things fresh and lengthy. Drinking well now to five years.

Vineyard Info
At Seresin Estate, we farm biodynamically. This means we work in harmony with seasonal, earthy and celestial rhythms. Our wines therefore express a sense of time, with wines from each harvest subtly different from its predecessor. We keep the vines healthy by feeding the soil with animal manure composts, and spraying the vine leaves with teas made from local herbs and minerals. We put more back into the land than we take out. As a result, our wines express an ever stronger sense of place.
We see the vineyard as a living organism, a space that our workers, animals and wild birds, flowers, worms and insects can share. Our wines express this sense of life and harmony. This organic wine has been made through the embrace of organic and biodynamic principles in our viticulture and winemaking. Leah blends together grapes from our three vineyards, each adding individual characteristics to the final wine. The majority of the fruit is taken from our Raupo Creek vineyard, a hillside site with dense clay soils and windblown loess.
