Intense, deep red colour. On the nose, aromas of black cherry and strawberry. Full-bodied on the palate with notes of ripe plums and spice. Rich, long finish. A wine that is already very enjoyable but also has good aging potential. Best served at 16-18°C and opened 1-hour ahead. Food pairing suggestions: duck confit, lamb marinated with ceps (porcini) mushrooms, loin of veal a la provencale. Optimum maturity: 2015-2022.Vintage in image may vary. The Laurus philosophy Laurus means „Laurel‟ in Latin, a Roman symbol of excellence. Here excellence is all about “terroir”: the grapes are grown on plots we select for their ability to express the very best of each Appellation. The term “terroir” encompasses a soil, a climate and people . Here it is expressed through sustainable partnerships with wine-growers who share our vision. The maturing process in 275-litre Laurus barrels refines the structure, producing complex wines with plenty of character and good cellaring potential.
The Appellation Produced in the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and its 4 adjoining communes (Bédarrides, Courthézon, Orange and Sorgues), the AOP covers an area of 3,161ha and benefits from a variety of terroirs: on the terraces, rolled pebble soils, which are truly specific to this Appellation, produce powerful wines; clay and limestone soils confer a fine balance; sandy soils bring out aromas. Although 13 varieties of grapes are authorized in this combination, Grenache grapes prevail, producing structured, fullbodied wines with excellent cellaring potential.
A little history. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard acquired its fame thanks to the presence of the Popes in Avignon between 1309 and 1403. By choosing Châteauneuf as their summer residence, they greatly promoted the production of wine and developed the vineyard, turning it into one of the jewels of the Rhône Valley.
