Product Description
The Rousselot vineyards lie on the highest plateau of limestone of Fronsac. Passed from generation to generation, this property has flourished in size, modernity and continuous improvement in winemaking.Centuries ago, Chateau Vray Houchat was then only composed of a few acres. In the mid-twentieth century, after their marriage, Sylvie Barraud of Fronsac and JeanRousselot extended the vineyard with Chateau Les Roches deFerrand, which also became a selection of the best plots. Its appellation comes from a place named Ferrand whose particularity is traces of iron in the limestone rocks that roam the surface. Lalande de Pomerol vines, owned by Jean Rousselot, joined the vineyard in 1970.Domaine Pont de Guestres is the former title of "Guîtres",where a bridge crosses the "Barbanne" stream that runs through the prestigious appellations of Pomerol, Lalande de Pomerol and Saint Emilion. This property is a sandy-gravellysoil of almost two acres grown exclusively with merlot. In 1986 Rémy took over his parents’ operation and now runs it with Ghislaine, who brought Chateau Pont de Guîtres, inherited from her parents. Plots that are part of the best terroirs of the two names were gradually purchased for their two sons Cyril and Guillaume, enthusiasts and students in viticulture and oenology. However, circumstances changed in January 17, 2010 when Guillaume in his first year of commerce passed away tragically at the age of 19.
