MOOIPLAAS - Pinotage - Stellenbosch, South Africa

MOOIPLAAS - Stellenbosch, SOUTH AFRICA

The Mooiplaas Pinotage is a full bodied wine with a deep purple colour. The nose is reminiscent of plums, which is typical of this unique South African variety, while the palate is rich and full with a long finish. The wine is soft, juicy and should evolve well over time, with ample structure and concentration to age well for 8 to 10 years.

Label Notes:

Upon arriving at Jamieson Ranch, guests soon discover our eager and friendly miniature horses grazing in their pristine pasture. These "minis" are their own distinct breed of horse, measuring 38 inches in height or less. Trained as assistance or service animals for people with disabilities, our "minis" may be small in stature, but they make a big impact by bringing light into the lives of everyone they meet. Jamieson Ranch Vineyards has formed the Light Horse Foundation, dedicated to helping at-risk individuals, particularly those with autism, and supporting other important humanitarian causes. A portion of our profits will go to support the Light Horse Foundation.

Maceration is the term used for skin contact. All red wine from Mooiplaas Wines are made by using skin maceration in order to extract colour from the skins of the berries, as well as fermenting on the skins. The time of maceration may vary according to the wine style. In the case of white wines pre-fermetation maceration is used for shorter periods to extract flavour from the skins, and fermentation never takes place on the skins.
